Construction Craftworker*

(Pre-apprenticeship Program)


Pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship programs are designed to provide students the full scope of knowledge and applied skills necessary to perform the occupation


*Construction Craft Worker apprentices will be eligible to write the Red Seal Inter-provincial Examination upon successful completion of all in-school technical training.


A construction craft worker works on a wide variety of projects. They are responsible for handling every aspect of a job from start to finish. Craft Workers do not just work at building construction. They also work on roads, bridges, pipelines, and mining sites and they assist other tradespeople, such as carpenters, plumbers, glaziers, roofers, and drywallers. 


The UNIFOR Seeding Communities Training Hall program is designed to help workplaces meet their legal due diligence to provide basic training to health and safety representatives as well as prepare trainees for a variety of responsibilities. It not only meets, but exceeds the minimum standards prescribed by the law for the first phase of Certification training. This program is applicable to all Ontario workplaces.

  • Week Two - Health & Safety Level 2

    (WHSC Occupational Health and Safety Level II Law - Provincial)

    • Understanding of Health and Safety Law and Its Inadequacies
    • Activity: Develop Strategies
    • How to Conduct a Joint Health and Safety Committee Meeting
    • Activity: Assessment, Research, and Evaluation of a Scientific Study
    • Overview of Accident and Disease Investigation Steps

  • Week Three - Standard First Aid W/CPR/AED

    • First aid and CPR Skills *Includes Injury Prevention Content
  • Week Four - Construction Math

    • Basic Math Skills Needed to Perform Calculations Related to Construction Projects

  • Week Five - Working at Heights & Traffic Control
